It is not surprising that certain teenagers today suffer stress and blood pressure problems today. There is so much pressure on them to be the best and to be number one and to handle pressures at school and among friends. Studies have shown that excessive stress during the teen years can have a negative impact on both physical and mental health later in life. Teen stress is a risk factor for the development of depression that carries an increased risk of suicide. With a poor economy, both parents today have to work and when they come home they are tired and want to relax. You can help your teen by listening to him or her. It is important to have a good support system so your teen does not feel alone. Find out what is wrong. Determine if the problems are severe enough to seek professional help. Teens also have to deal with peer pressure, a new school or college, problems with students, or even perhaps a first crush.
